Hello ! I am a 28 year old stay at home mother to a toddler. Let me tell you that I’m not an professional baker or cook. My mother cooks well, she is an expert in baking too so I’ve had the privileage to have various varieties of home made snacks and dishes all through my childhood. I remember clearly how amma used to try and make new and different dishes for our birthdays or when guests came over. I must admit that I never bothered to help her or learn how they are made. I would be loitering around till its time to eat and then relish the beauties !

One fine day my wedding was fixed ! I was enjoying all the attention and this new found joy of falling in love. Suddenly it dawned upon me that I knew nothing about cooking and decided to learn. It was all confusing but I thought I managed to learn some basics. My husband was a very liberal person with regards to what food we had. So I had enough time to experiment and learn the art of cooking. Poor man has happily had all my experiments and always encouraged me to go on.

We regularly invited friends home and made food for them. Following the tradition from my home, I was very particular that we gave guests only home cooked food. Like every newly wedded girl, I dint want to take a risk and make a fool out of myself in front of my husband’s friends so I researched variations of a particular dish by reading and watching blogs and vlogs and finding the most easiest one. Slowly I started to read various recepies and create my own version of a dish mainly by varying the ingredients based on our tastes. I also have this very bad habit of not tasting the dish in its raw form coz if I do that then I wouldn’t feel like having it once its ready. So there were many times when the dish was too salty or less salty or too spicy or less spicy. But I’ve now figured out that if its smells good, it would taste good too ! My excuse to not taste in between has been established !

So the main reason why I started this blog is to put down the variations I make to customise recipes the way we like it. I also hope to help girls like me who are starting life from base zero. It took me 3 years to reach a point where I can confidentially share a recepie with people and tell them it will work! I would also be sharing all the flaws and mistakes I made so that you can skip them !

I’m also a mother to a toddler, living abroad. My husband is working so its just the two of us at home the whole day. My little one seldom lets me work in peace. He would either be right next to my foot in the kitchen or crying his lungs out till I come out of the kitchen. We dont entertain screen time for him so me doing my work while he enjoys videos is also not possible. So how do I manage to do the household chores and experiment new stuff ? I’ll let you know soon !

Its funny that people nowadays prefer to google their queries than seek help from friends or relatives they know well. I learned to cook, bake and look after the baby through a lot of struggles and learned things the hard way. I always wished if I had someone to tell me that its alright to not know how to cook, its not rocket science ! Its okay if the laundry is piling up and the house is untidy, it can be cleaned ! That postpartum depression is real and it can be sorted out !

The sweet and tangy life of a toddler mumma would be my platform to voice my thoughts. This would be a place where I might look back to, some years later and pat myself on the back and appreciate myself for having come this far. Futhermore, I hope to be an inspiration to someone like me too.
